The Star Performer award is given annually to a member of faculty or staff of Northeastern who displays exceptional service and dedication to their work at the college over a given calendar year. Winchell was selected by a vote of her Northeastern peers last month.
“Northeastern is more than a little fortunate to have such exceptional people like Shelby working here,” said Jay A. Lee, president of Northeastern. “I wasn’t all that surprised she was chosen for this award, given the amazing, highly visible work she’s done as an ambassador for the rodeo team and instructor for the college’s top-notch equine program.”
Winchell’s selection for the award came among other faculty and staff honors announced at the college’s preparatory in-service meetings in mid-January. The honorees are invited to join their counterparts from the other 12 Colorado Community College System schools to an awards luncheon with Gov. Jared Polis at the Colorado Governor’s Mansion in Denver on March 11.
