NJC auto and toy shows combined in 2011

Entries being sought now for March 26-27 event

February 8, 2011

The Northeastern Junior College Auto Techs Club announces that its popular annual auto show will be held March 26 and 27 this year.  The Club is currently seeking entries for this year’s event.

As a means to enhance the show and add more value for spectators, this year the Northeastern Junior College (NJC) Auto Show is being combined with the annual NJC Diesel Tech Club’s Toy Show. Those who buy a ticket to the event will be able to see both shows, taking place in the same building on the college’s north campus.

The  NJC auto show has been a large spring event for many years now, bringing entries in from all over northeastern Colorado and the Denver metro area.  While plans are still in the works, organizers indicate that special inline vehicles are being recruited as a new addition for the 2011 show, including some slot car monsters.  Once again, a model car show will be held as part of the event and area children ages 6-12 especially, are invited and encouraged to get a model car ready to compete.  There are age categories in the model car competition from age 6 through adult.

The toy show has taken place for many years at NJC, originally sponsored by the ag diesel program, then the Aggies Club on campus and has always been held as a stand-alone event. Vendors come to Sterling to just show off or buy, sell and trade toys. Past shows have included some really extensive collections of marbles and antique toys, for example.

The students are currently looking for exhibitors for both the auto show and the toy show. The entry forms are available online at the college’s website njc.edu.
