Northeastern Junior College’s Diesel Power Club has rescheduled its third annual MudEvil Dayz for April 28. It was originally set to be held on Saturday, April 21, but due to the forecast calling for rain and snow it has been decided to push it back a week.
The mud race will be held on the corner of Highway 138 and Pioneer Road, in Sterling. Driver gates open at 7 a.m. and public gates open at 10 a.m. Cost for spectators is $5, $3 for NJC students and $2 for children age 10 and under, and the cost for drivers to enter is $20 for the ATV and UTV class, with winners receiving a trophy only, and $60 for all other classes, with a cash payout and trophies awarded for first, second and third place.
NJC diesel instructor Jimmy Atencio said they have raised their entry fee prices slightly this year in order to pay back “a lot more money” for the first, second and third place winners in all classes, except ATVs, because “that’s what keeps the big guys coming back.”
