Do you like dancing and country music? If so, you can enjoy both at the same time with a five-week country swing dance course being offered to the community by a new group, Country KickUp Sterling,
CKU nonprofit organization is a fundraising platform focused on providing awareness and support for charitable causes in the community around them by teaching country swing and line dancing, while at the same time connecting and building up the community, helping individuals with personal development and others create connections off and on the dance floor.
Funding generated from the Sterling course will support a scholarship for Northeastern Junior College students, according to CKU Director Jordan Wagner.
The five-week course will begin Tuesday, Sept. 13 and run through Oct. 11 at NJC in the Hays Student Center Ballroom. There will be lessons from 7 to 8:15 p.m. each week and social dancing from 8:15 to 9 p.m.
The cost is $30 per person or $5 for Northeastern Junior College students and local high school students.
At the end of the five weeks, there will be a community dance to show off your skills.
“Get ready for the cowboy hoe down in Sterling,” Wagner said.
