Faculty Senate Impact Scholarship
The NJC Faculty Senate Scholarship is established to retain students. This yearly $300 scholarship is available to students who have or who have not completed a FAFSA. For students to be eligible, they must have:
- successfully passed at least 15 credits at NJC by Fall of 2023 and
- a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5
Any NJC faculty member can nominate or sponsor students he or she feels would benefit from receiving a scholarship. This process can be initiated by a student or a faculty member, however, each applicant needs a faculty member to sign/sponsor their application.
Requirements:
After finding a faculty sponsor or being nominated by a faculty member, the two parts of the application process includes:
- a completely filled out and signed application (click on the button below)
- a one-page letter or 1-2 page double spaced essay (attach to the application)
The NJCFS Impact Scholarship Chair will select three NJCFS members from the different divisions to serve as the selection committee who will select the recipients and two alternate recipients of the award(s). Each recipient receives a minimum of $300.00. The committee must be sure to clearly rank their selections prior to submitting the results to the NJCFS Treasurer. The Treasurer or Scholarship Committee Chair will notify the winner(s) and the NJC Financial Aid Office of the financial awards. Should the winners not return in the fall, the top alternate will be notified and so on until the scholarship is accepted.
The scholarship will be credited to the student/students account/accounts Fall Semester 2023 upon verification that the student has returned and is enrolled as a full-time NJC Student after the census date.
The scholarship deadline to receive a FALL scholarship is April of the prior semester. Please submit your application using the button below or to the NJC Financial Aid office in the Hays Student Center by April. For questions please contact Stephanie.weatherill@njc.edu.
