Work Study Positions

To qualify for a work-study position, you must first have a completed FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) to determine your eligibility. You may apply for multiple work-study positions. Your submitted application will be sent to the position supervisor(s), and it is up to them to contact you for an interview or for hiring.

Open Positions

Adult & Community Education - Office Assistant

Will assist the coordinator and instructors with essential clerical duties including copying, data entry, filing, and other various tasks as assigned. Day and evening hours available. Must have computer skills (Excel and Word), and attention to detail.

Agriculture - Office Assistant

General Office work, filing, copying, power point manipulation, entering grades on computer, etc. Qualifications: Must be a self-starter with a good work ethic, and be computer literate. Must be able to handle confidential information.

Agriculture - Rodeo Stock Feeding

Feeding, watering, care of practice stock. Set up, tear-down, general maintenance of livestock facility. Hauling of feed, grain and equipment. Qualifications: Must have own vehicle, Must have cell phone, must be enrolled in Rodeo Techniques.

Athletics - Baseball Field Assistant

Responsible for laundry and cleaning uniforms for baseball team. Help with field maintenance and preparation for games. May include other duties as assigned, as well as running errands as needed.

Athletics - Men's Basketball Assistant Manager

This position will be responsible for attending all men's basketball practices to run clock and take stats. Game time also includes taking stats and set-up to include water, towels, uniform check-in and check-out.

Athletics - Men's Soccer Assistant Manager

This position will be responsible for attending all men's soccer practices to run clock and take stats. Game time also includes taking stats and set-up to include water, towels, uniform check-in and check-out.

Athletics - Women's Soccer Assistant Manager

This position will be responsible for attending all women's soccer practices to run clock and take stats. Game time also includes taking stats and set-up to include water, towels, uniform check-in and check-out.

Athletics - Women's Volleyball Assistant Manager

This position will be responsible for attending all volleyball practices to run clock and take stats. Game time also includes taking stats and set-up to include water, towels, uniform check-in and check-out.

Athletics - Wrestling Assistant Manager

This position will be responsible for attending all the wrestling team practices to run clock and take stats. Game time also includes taking stats and set-up to include water, towels, uniform check-in and check-out.

Auto Technology - Lab Assistant

Assist instructors with the preparation of the lab for students. Inventorying and stocking of supplies. Repair and maintenance of lab tools and equipment. Some janitorial duties such as dumping trashcans, restocking soup and towel dispensers, cleaning.

Bookstore - Store Assistant

A bookstore work study will utilize clerical skills, maintain inventory, operate the register, empty trash, vacuum, dust, assist with book returns, stock shelves, assist with sales at home games, and provide good customer service.

Business Department - Office Assistant

Complete assigned office tasks including grading, compiling data in excel, creating posters and other media in Word and/or Publisher, and other general office tasks. Qualifications: Completion of an Accounting course and strong attention to detail.

Cafeteria - Retail Food Service

Assist in our campus cafeteria with duties such as sweeping, mopping, cleaning tables, and other duties as assigned. This position requires dressing in a uniform, and the student must be prompt and reliable. Must possess good customer service skills and assist customers in a quick and friendly manner.  Must be able to follow written and verbal instructions.

Campus Safety - Grounds Monitor

The Campus Safety and Ground Monitor Work-Study (student monitor), operating under the supervision of the Coordinator of Campus Safety, aims to enhance safety on the NJC campus during evening hours. In collaboration with the NJC Physical Plant department, the student monitor will play an important role in identifying safety concerns and addressing basic grounds and maintenance issues in educational buildings and outdoor common areas.

Document Center - Office Assistant

Help log in all freight that comes from UPS, post office, and FedEx. Contact students via email that they have packages to pick up. Help with delivery of copy jobs. Learn to run copy jobs on the Xerox equipment. Fold and stuff documents & envelopes.

EMS/ Fire Science - Office Assistant

Responsible for cleaning the mannequins following CPR training courses. This position also requires some light cleaning duties, filing, and computer work. Must have good customer service skills. 

English Department - Office Assistant

Strong writing skills & knowledge of ENG 1021; applicants with an 'A' in ENG 1021 preferred. Job will require filing, delivering documents around campus, copying, basic cleaning, record keeping, proofreading, & finding very specific information in essays.

Event Center - Attendant/Concessions

Monitor the on-campus fitness center at the Bank of Colorado Event Center. Duties will include monitoring the safety, security, & overall health of patrons and monitoring correct use of equipment. Student workers will also need to operate the concession stand during events. Perform daily cleaning tasks as assigned, and must be able to work a set schedule. Must be willing to get CPR certified. 

Event Center - Game Management

There are several position openings for students to assist with all game management duties to include the following: ticket-takers, scoreboard operators, concession-stand attendants, booth announcers, videographers, lighting & sound operators. Additional duties may be assigned as needed. These positions will require night and/or weekend work and training is provided.

Family Resource Center - Assistant

Financial Aid & Records - Office Assistant

Basic office duties, answering phones, greet and assist customers at the front counter, assist with bulk mailing projects, filing, computer data entry and other duties as assigned. Requirements: ability to alphabetize and proper phone etiquette.

Human Resources - Office Assistant

This position will be expected to file reports, correspondences, and employee paperwork. Student will also make copies, image, and organize files. This position requires the student-worker to maintain confidentiality of the information from this office. Student must be dependable and possess organizational skills.

Liberal Arts - Gallery Assistant

Student will monitor the gallery during open hours for the Peter L. Youngers Fine Art Gallery. Will assist with installing and removing exhibitions, creating materials for art exhibitions, and assist the gallery directors with duties as needed.

Liberal Arts - Office Assistant

Student will perform general office duties to include answering the phone, scheduling advising appointments, and other office duties as assigned. Prefer a student with computer and keyboarding skills, and must be very dependable and able to operate the office independently at times.

Livestock Judging - Assistant

This position will assist the animal science instructor/ livestock judging coach with the following duties: grading assignments & exams, computing grades & entering them into the grade book, scoring the judging practice cards, & keeping a running total of team members' points. May also assist with constructing recruiting materials.

Math/Physics - Office Assistant

Grade papers, help maintain grade book, type quizzes and notes, make copies, clean, and other general office duties.

Math/Science - Office Assistant

Help with a variety of administrative duties including typing, filing, mail, and grading and room maintenance. Students may also be asked to run errands around campus. Qualifications: good work ethic, willing to work, positive attitude and trustworthy.

Monahan Learning Center - Tutor

Tutor students one-on-one or in small groups for college courses. General office duties include greeting clients, answering phone calls and scheduling appointments. Must have received a 'B' or higher in course you are tutoring. A 3.0 GPA is required.

Monahan Library - Library Assistant

Shelve library materials, shelf reading, dusting and straightening books. Check in/out materials, mail pick-up, some vacuuming, cleaning tables, trash pick-up, and library database instruction. Qualifications: good customer service and communication skills.

Music Department - Assistant

This position will be responsible for filing and sorting paperwork, cataloging new music for the instrumental and vocal programs, designing and working on concert programs, general administrative work, and promotional work for upcoming performances. Will also supervise music facilities on-campus, including the recording studio and piano lab. 

Nursing Department - Office Assistant

Assist with office duties to include copying, filing, faxing, pick-up/sort mail, distribute packages, dusting/vacuuming, running errands on campus, and other duties as assigned. Must have good computer skills, good work ethic, and be dependable and prompt. Current nursing students cannot be employed in this position. 

Pete's Retreat Cafe - Retail Food Service

Assist in our campus café with duties such as sweeping, mopping, cleaning tables, and other duties as assigned. This position requires dressing in a uniform, and the student must be prompt and reliable. Must possess good customer service skills and assist customers in a quick and friendly manner.  Must be able to follow written and verbal instructions.

Physical Plant - Assistant

Student assistant will be responsible for washing and vacuuming State Vehicles, putting down mulch, assisting with graduation setup, and other duties as assigned. This position will require students to provide a driving background check.

Science Department - Biology/Chemistry Lab Assistant

Lab preparation for biology and chemistry courses; making copies, grading papers, and doing errands for science instructors. Lab cleanup and maintenance is also performed. Good work ethic and interest in lab work is preferred.

Theatre - Stage Tech & Production Assistant

This student-worker will be required to assist with theatre production to include building sets, setting up lighting, and moving furniture around during rehearsals and programming. Other duties include painting, sorting costumes, assisting with scene changes, organizing rehearsals, and other duties as assigned. 

Welding - Lab Assistant

Assist with preparation of lab for students. This position is responsible for the inventory and stocking of supplies, repair and maintenance of tools and equipment, and some janitorial duties (dumping trash, and restocking soap and towel dispensers).

Closed Positions

Academic Affairs - Office Assistant

This position will assist the VP of Academic Affairs in creating, uploading, and transferring data, materials and resources online. Will work on other projects as assigned, and assist in providing support for faculty. Must be dependable and have great communication skills and computer skills.

Admissions - Office Assistant

Equine Management - Stable Hand

Responsible for the maintenance of horse corrals and cleaning and maintenance of barn area. Able to groom horses and move hay. Prefer equine management or equine science major. Qualifications: must be able to physically operate a skid steer.

Foundation Office - Office Assistant

Basic office duties, computer data entry, filing, mailings, errands, answer phones, assist customers/students, copies and other duties as assigned. Qualifications: confidentiality is a must and good customer service skills.

Information Technology - Intern

Detail oriented, motivated and have strong work ethic. Familiar with current Windows Operating Systems. Training will occur in the installation and troubleshooting of hardware. Must be able to lift 5-50 lbs., bend, and climb.

Math - Office Assistant

Will help grade papers, help maintain grade book, type quizzes and notes, occasionally make copies, occasionally clean, occasionally help Mr. Gaines or Mr. Stump with needed duties, and other general office duties. Applicant must pass MAT 1340 with a C or higher and be prompt, come to work when scheduled.
