Frequently Asked Questions

We understand that the world of course materials may be confusing at times. Every student that walks through our doors will be given one-on-one treatment. We take the time to meet with each student to go over their schedule and make sure that they have all the information that they need.

We even pull your books for you, to make sure that you will receive exactly what you need. If you have questions about your schedule and books, please give us a call at 970-521-6789 or e-mail us at njc_bookstore@njc.edu.

Northeastern has many classes where your e-book is available through your i-Pad.  The "Digital Course Fee Classes" are a great asset, as they are less expensive than typical textbooks. They are charged to your student bill, so they are not an additional out-of-pocket expense. However, there are still classes on campus that use textbooks, Apps, Open Educational Resources, and/or other materials. To find which course materials each class requires, you can click here Find my course materials

Because we are an i-Pad college, our textbook costs are much lower than other institutions. We have an average out-of-pocket expense of around $250.00 - $300.00 a semester. Your total bill will depend on how many Digital Course Fee Classes a student may have each semester.

Yes. Once a student's tuition, fees, and room and board, if applicable, are covered, a student can use any amount left to cover expenses incurred in the Northeastern Bookstore. You simply obtain a Bookstore Promissory Note first, from the Cashier's Office, to use as your form of payment in the bookstore.

Course materials are items that the faculty members have chosen, for the particular class that they are teaching.  Some items may be required, optional, or recommended. Some classes may use Open Educational Resources, which are free or low cost materials. Some classes may have "No Text Required". Course materials may include, but are not limited to, hard-bound textbooks, loose-leaf textbooks, electronic (e-book) textbooks, access codes, lab manuals, course packs, bundles, Apps, notes, calculators, goggles, nursing scrubs, manuals, etc.

Yes. Though we do have an online textbook website, we do not have an online shopping cart option available.  You can search our online list, then contact the Northeastern Bookstore over the phone at 970.521.6789 and you can prepay for the course materials. We then set aside the order and the student can pick them up any time, or have them mailed. If you do not have a way to access the website, you can also call the main bookstore line, with your schedule and we can take care of your order in that manner. Ordering early allows the student a greater chance of receiving "used" textbooks over "new", which will save the student money.

Textbook Buybacks are conducted at the end of each semester, during finals week, in the bookstore. Any textbook that the student will not be utilizing any longer, may be sold back to the bookstore or wholesaler for cash. It does not matter where the student purchases their textbooks, they can still sell them back at the Northeastern Bookstore.  Students do not need a copy of their receipt. They only need their Student I.D. and books they want to sell.

You may call our main direct phone line at 970.521.6789. You may also email us at njc_bookstore@njc.edu. We are located inside of the Hays Student Center on the first floor.
