- Sentences: Spell out whole numerals below 10; use figures for 10 and above.
- Ordinals: Spell out first through ninth and use figures for 10th and above.
- Fractions: Use a hyphen when fractions are expressed in words, and use numbers rather than words for mixed numbers (i.e., “In the survey, one-third of the respondents gave a score of 4½ or better.”).
